Our Investments

The investment (grantmaking) process is partner driven and incorporates many investment characteristics of venture capitalists. These include:

  • Building organizational leadership and capacity through volunteer consulting by our partners;
  • Identifying and implementing innovative approaches to organizational sustainability;
  • Establishing on-going, long-term (three to five years) working relationships with select nonprofits (investees);
  • Jointly determining measurable outcomes;
  • Incorporating an appropriate exit strategy to clearly identify the end of the engagement.

Partners identify the funding areas for investments (grants) and the size of investments to be made. When we select the nonprofit organization for funding, we look for organizations that deliver their program well, but who would like to make improvements in their infrastructure or "business" side of their organization.
