Diane Bergeron answered the phone in April 2008 to hear CSVP Partners and I-Team members Reka Barabas and Shilpa Kedar on the other end of the line. They were calling her as a reference for a finalist organization during the CSVP Investee Selection process, and during their conversation Diane was intrigued by CSVP’s hands-on volunteering approach. She and her husband Matt Warren visited the CSVP website to find out more. “When I learned about CSVP, the model just made sense to me – combining capital with commitment,” Diane says. “Matt and I were looking for a way to “give back” but, with time in short supply, the idea of volunteering to stuff envelopes or sort supplies just didn’t make sense. The real draw for me was being able to volunteer in ways that build on my existing skill set.” They signed up on the website and became partners in May 2008.
Diane is a professor in the Department of Organizational Behavior at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. She is a native of New Jersey and received her PhD from Columbia University. Before coming to Cleveland, she taught at New York University’s Stern School of Business, and has also worked for a consulting firm in New York City and at Pfizer, Inc. She has consulted with Fortune 500 companies in the areas of organization development, recruiting strategies, employment branding, benchmarking best practices, and survey research.
Diane and Matt live in Shaker Heights with their two young sons, and in her spare time, Diane enjoys making pottery. She also hopes to one day have an organic garden and a huge library (with time to read the books!).
